Colonial Williamsburg is the nation’s largest living history museum encompassing 301 acres including some 500 buildings, homes, stores and taverns reconstructed and restored to their 18th-century appearances; tradesmen practicing 30 historic trades and domestic crafts; historical interpreters and character actors; and 90 acres of gardens and greens, and now featuring the live action drama, Revolutionary City™, daily from mid-March to the holiday season.
Some highlights are: the Governor’s Palace; the Capitol; the Museums of Colonial Williamsburg (DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum) and Bassett Hall.
Historic Jamestowne Open Daily 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Start your experience at the new Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center, where exhibits and a multi-media theater presentation provide background on Jamestown's beginnings and rich history. Walk through the townsite to see the original church tower dating to the 1690s and the foundation of some the earliest buildings in Virginia.
Be sure to visit the APVA Jamestown Rediscovery excavation, where archaeologists are uncovering the remains of the original 1607 James Fort. Learn more about the dig at the Nathalie P. and Alan M. Voorhees Archaearium, an innovative new exhibition facility that showcases more than 1,000 artifacts and the findings of this world-renowned archaeological project.
Historic Yorktown Open Daily 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (some shops are closed on Monday)
This picturesque waterfront village offers history, art, concerts, special events, shopping and water fun – it’s a must-see for visitors to America’s Historic Triangle. Visitors also enjoy strolling the quaint streets and riding the free trolley. The sounds and precision marching of The Fifes and Drums of York Town set the stage with patriotic music complementing the other historical attractions.
Jamestown Settlement Open Daily 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
It's a great time to visit Jamestown Settlement, where visitors are immersed in the world of America’s first permanent English colonists and the Powhatan Indians they encountered.
The events and environment of 17th-century Virginia are brought to life in Jamestown Settlement's exhibition galleries. Extensive gallery exhibits, outdoor living history areas and activities. Restaurant and gift shops on site.
Yorktown Battlefield Open Daily 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
See where American independence was won at the Yorktown Battlefield, administered by the National Park Service as part of the Colonial National Historical Park. Here on October 19, 1781, British forces under Lord Charles Cornwallis surrendered to the combined American and French armies led by General George Washington, concluding the battle that signaled the beginning of the end of the fight for American independence.
Yorktown Victory Center Open Daily 9:00 am to 5:00 am
To gain an understanding of events that led to America's war for independence and the impact of the war upon ordinary men and women, start your tour at the state-operated Yorktown Victory Center, a museum of the American Revolution.
Follow the Road to Revolution, an outdoor walkway to the main museum building. Exhibits along the "Road" describe events that resulted in the transformation of the mood in Britain's American colonies from acceptance of the status quo in mid-18th century to rebellion 25 years later.
Once you purchase your ticket, you will be given a voucher that you must present at any Colonial Williamsburg Ticket office prior to attending listed attractions.
